Like a lot of people in IT, I've had a fascination with all-things-computer since early childhood. My first exposure to computers was a monochrome Apple ][e. I spent every possible moment on that thing and was immediately obsessed. I couldn't even tell you why, but it was instant and consuming. My dad would sometimes bring home a "portable" computer for work, with a Flintstones-style acoustic modem. I was absorbed by just watching him use it, or typing nonsense on the screen. After that I progressed to an IBM PS/2 at school, probably running some kind of a 386 and was forever a PC guy from then on. I pretty much knew what I wanted to be when I grew up from around age six, and I feel extremely fortunate to have found such a serendipitous match between my passion and a career.
These days, I live down in the lovely area of Sierra Vista, Arizona with my wife and an ever-changing cast of wild bird friends. We moved there in 2021 to enjoy the slower small town life, proximity to the forest and mountains, and world-class birding. We are both avid birders, and surprisingly that's not even the nerdiest thing about either of us.

When not treading water on the Internet or working, you'll find me in the woods looking for rare birds and wildflowers, playing a retro video game (another huge obsession), visiting family, working on one of too many transient hobby projects, napping, or watching strange movies at volumes that annoy my poor wife.
